Masterplanning, Urban Design & Land Use Projects
Warriewood STP Buffer Zone & Shearwater Community
WCA prepared a masterplan to provide a range of residential, employment generating, open space and riparian zones over an approximately 36 hectare site. The emphasis was strongly placed on preservation and enhancement of the existing wetlands, the creek line riparian zones and the stands of swamp mahogany forest. Road relocations were proposed to enhance the potential of employment generating sites and to rationalise the existing sporting field configurations. The project entailed extensive liaison and consultation with property owners, local and state authorities, associated consultants and a diverse range of community groups.
Subsequent to developing the masterplan WCA was engaged to design and document a variety of individual dwelling types to be incorporated into a 181 housing development for CPG Developments.
The site, adjacent to a wetlands area, called for up-market contemporary buildings with a design typology appropriate to its Northern Beaches location. An emphasis on environmentally sustainable design principles was an important aspect of the project.

Blueys
The Kingfisher Resort is located in one of the states most environmentally fragile areas, attracting rigid constraints to ensure the preservation of the unique qualities of the area and the native flora and fauna. The resort has been recognised as a model of ecologically sympathetic design. There was a strong emphasis on the “Australian Rural” theme in the choice of appropriate materials, in our attempt to susbtatially mitigate impacts on the sensitive site.It provides 41 duplex and free-standing townhouses with facilities including café-brasserie, tennis courts, pool and spa.
